AIDS Hotline:

The AIDS Hotline provides answers to questions regarding HIV and AIDS. The hotline is staffed with counselors trained to provide information about the symptoms of HIV disease, how the virus is transmitted, where to get tested, and how to contact support groups.

Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening Program:

Provides breast and cervical cancer screening for women who are uninsured or under insured who have incomes at or below 200% of federal poverty guidelines, services include a Pap test, pelvic exam, clinical breast exam, and breast self-exam education for women over 18 years of age or younger women if they are sexually active, and mammograms for women over age 40.

Childrens Dental Health Services Hotline:

Provides dental care to children from age 2 through 20 who are uninsured or under insured and whose families have incomes at or below 150% of federal poverty guidelines; home fluoride supplements are available to children birth through 12, regardless of income and dental health education supplies and services are also available to all school-age children.

Early & Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment [EPSDT] :

Provides comprehensive health examinations for children with a current Medicaid card who are less than 21 years of age; services includes, but are not limited to, physical exams, developmental assessment, lab testing, dental/hearing/vision testing, immunizations, referral for other services of the Family Outreach Workers to inform the parents of eligible children about EPSDT and refer them to EPSDT providers.

Provides public health consultation on communicable diseases (e.g., rabies, hepatitis, meningitis, enteric diseases, etc.) For medical providers, public health professionals, general public, and other concerned individuals. This line may also be used to report reportable diseases to public health or to inquire about reporting laws and procedures including HIV/AIDS reporting. Line is available only during business hours. Offers services similar to EPSDT to non-Medicaid eligible children under the age of 21 who are uninsured or under insured and whose families have incomes at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines; services include comprehensive health examinations, limited sick care visits (no inpatient hospital coverage), medications for treatment of illness detected during check-ups, and referrals for other services.

Provides emergency treatment advice on accidental exposures to medications and household substances, plant ingestion, snake, spider and other insect bites and stings, chemical spills, occupational exposures, and drug overdoses. Serves low-income and Medicaid-eligible pregnant women, postpartum women up to 60 days, and infants less than one year of age; services include coordination of care, enhancements to care such as nutritional counseling and parenting education, payment for transportation to medical appointments through the Access to Rural Transportation (ART) Project, and payment for medical care during pregnancy for women who are ineligible for Medicaid, but meet certain other requirements.
STD/AIDS Hotline:

Offers the general public and health care providers information on the diagnosis, treatment and case finding of AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases including testing sites, educational materials, medical referrals, and the latest treatments available; STD staff perform confidential patient interviews and subsequent partner notification/referral for persons diagnosed with Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, and HIV infection, and also conduct educational presentations to various health care, school or community groups.

To report and/or obtain information on the TB program. A surveillance nurse is available to answer questions regarding Tuberculosis, such as symptoms of the disease, how it is transmitted, and where to get tested. Health care providers may use this number to report the diagnosis of the disease and obtain recommendations on treatment and contact investigation.

WV CHIP Hotline

The WV Children's Health Insurance Program is a free, comprehensive health insurance coverage for children ages 1-18 whose parents work but don't have health insurance benefits. Hotline staff provide general program information, mail interested families applications and information about WV CHIP, or provide assistance with completing the application.
For children ages 1-5, staff will refer questions to the proper office.
For children ages 6-18, staff can answer questions about program services and benefits, assist with re-ordering children's ID cards, pre-certifying some medical procedures, correcting some eligibility problems, help providers with some technical questions.
