OSHA Penalties Are Increasing in 2016 Due to the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015

The Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015 which was signed into law by President Obama on November 2, 2015 contained a Section 701, "Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act Improvements Act of 2015" which requires OSHA to increase its civil penalties for the first time since 1990. A one-time "Catch Up Adjustment" will occur in 2016 with penalties increasing up to a cap of 150%. See The National Law Review and Safety News Alert for more information.

Energy Star Program

The ENERGY STAR is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and protect our climate through energy efficiency. The ENERGY STAR program was established by EPA in 1992, under the authority of the Clean Air Act Section 103(g). as a voluntary program to identify and promote energyefficient products and buildings in order to reduce energy consumption, improve energy security, and reduce pollution through voluntary labeling of or other forms of communication about products and buildings that meet the highest energy efficiency standards. Education and Training programs

The EPA, DOT and OSHA require a number of certifications and training in order to work in certain positions, even positions that you might not expect. For example, hazardous waste training courses are usually required for health related degrees such as Gerontology degrees and Nursing programs.
