 Purpose of Position

The manager, environmental, health and services will manage and lead an organization that will provide the required business services to generation facilities and departments for the development and execution on business plans and budgets, with financial and operating reporting and analysis responsibilities to support plant goals. The manager will insure operating procedures are in place to meet all environmental compliance requirements; report operating results, manage compliance with operating permits and manage the plant’s chemical and water quality control requirement.  

 Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

Directs facility personnel in the development, implementation and compliance auditing of facility and corporate environmental, operating, health, chemical and safety programs and policies to meet regulatory and business requirements and provide a safe, healthy workplace for employees, contractors and visitors.

 Performs and directs the activities of others to assess risk associated with plant operation and maintenance, resource availability, loss of or the use of company assets and develop, implement and compliance audit approved risk management plans.

bullet

 Performs, directs and assists the activities of others to develop the facility business and financial plan, provide financial reporting and provide decision making support for economic evaluations and business decisions.

bullet

 Directly or indirectly manages lab activities, monitors water quality and is responsible for the management of plant chemical activities.

bullet

 Directs the activities of the plant supervisor–stores to ensure plant procurement, inventory and resource functions; support the plants’ needs and goals.

bullet

 Remains current on regulatory issues, interfaces with regulatory officials and reports to MidAmerican Energy Company leadership any deficiencies in compliance obligations.

bullet

 Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including employee safety, selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives and planning, organizing, integrating, measuring and reporting the work performed within the department.

 Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

 Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, business or related field is required or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience is needed for candidates without a bachelor’s degree.) 

bullet

An advanced degree in business (MBA) is preferred.

bullet

Eight years of related experience, including three years supervisory/management responsibilities.

bullet

Communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.

bullet

Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
