Chemical Health and Safety Information Search

horizontal rule

If you are looking for reliable scientific information about chemical compounds, just enter the name in the search box below.  The OSHA website will then provide health and safety data, permissible exposure limits, emergency response and first aid information, dangers of chronic exposure, etc.  The information is pretty raw, though: it assumes a chemically pure compound, which is rare to find at home.  For example, you can search for bleach or sodium hypochlorite or chlorine (all different forms of chlorine), but at home, commercially sold bleach is a dilute solution of sodium hypochlorite.

The Chemical Sampling Information file presents, in concise form, data on a large number of chemical substances that may be encountered in industrial hygiene investigations. It is intended as a basic reference for industrial hygienists engaged in OSHA field activity.

NOTE: This file has superceded the version published as the Chemical Information Manual, OSHA Instruction CPL 2-2.43A, July 1, 1991.
