Climate Change Data: Is it Caused by the Activities of Mankind?

The Climate is Changing, But Is It Caused by Mankind?

As pointed out by Nasa's graph, the climate is changing and it has always been changing, ever since the Earth was first created. So, what evidence is there that ties the changes specifically to the activities of mankind? This is where analysis gets tough. Basically, it is all correlation, meaning we can see trends in increasing temperatures, ice packs, etc., but we must still ask:

1. Are these trends significant?  That is just what does a 1 degree rise in global temperature mean?
   and
2. How do we prove these are caused by mankind's activities, and not something else?

Many proponents of global warming / climated change being caused by mankind become furious whenever anyone asks these questions, and that is sad, because that is in opposition to good science, which out to be rigorous and challenge assumptions, data, etc. If these propoonents were not using their conclusions to demand that taxpayers fund huge layouts and profound changes in scoiety, that might be ok, but such is not the case.

So, at the risk of antagonizing those for whom climate change is a dogma or modern religioon, we will ask the questions and provide both sides of the debate.  This section will grow as studies, reports, data and arguments are presnet by both sides

Just in the last 650,000 years there have been seven cycles of glacial advance and retreat, with the abrupt end of the last ice age about 7,000 years ago marking the beginning of the modern climate era - and of human civilization. Most of these climate changes are attributed to very small variations in Earth's orbit that change the amount of solar energy our planet receives.
